Innovation strategy: how to make growth happen?

Will Smith leads the UK operation for Happen, a global innovation agency with offices in London, Amsterdam, and New York. They help companies grow and develop in the right way.

Will trained as an architect practiced as an interior designer, worked in marketing for a media company and ran a commercial art gallery before arriving at Happen – so it has been quite an eventful journey into innovation. 

The consistent theme along that journey is my excitement at seeing ideas turned into reality. Whether that’s a new building people want to spend time in, a new service that leaves customers actually smiling or a new product which gets more attention than the rest of the shelf. My belief is this only happens with reliable frequency when an idea is as exciting to the commercial team as it is to the creative team.

At the last count, he has worked on innovation projects across 23 countries – from EPD to breakthrough & strategy to implementation and has worked with leading brands including Arla Foods, Carlsberg Group, Electrolux, ECCO Shoes, Pepsico, William Grant, Ticketmaster and Marks & Spencer.
