Electronics For Imaging (EFI), which has its headquarters in Silicon Valley (USA), has been providing products and solutions for the printing industry for over 20 years. Thanks to digital printing, there are no limits regarding individualisation and decoration of wooden surfaces.
EFI Cubik digital inkjet printers stand out in particular: for the wood decoration industry, they make not only premium quality short-runs applications possible, but also high speed mass production of decorative surfaces on wood.
EFI Cubik printers are based on the EFI Cretaprint single-pass digital printing technology, making them suitable for industrial applications. Printing widths of up to 1814 mm and linear printing speeds of up to 75 m/min are possible.
EFI emphasizes their flexibility too: eight printing bars mean that a variety of decorations and effects can be applied directly onto wood and building materials – and not just CMYK. “The EFI Cubik printing system makes both small and large print runs possible with reduced setup times, which reduces operational costs significantly,” explains Emilio Estrelles, Sales & Marketing Director at EFI Cretaprint. EFI Cubik offers the wood industry top-quality decoration, maximum performance and ink savings through a unique EFI ecosystem approach that gets the printer, inks and Fiery® proServer colour management system all working together as a fully-integrated concept solution, providing high value to building materials manufacturers.
Estrelles also emphasizes the fact that EFI Cubik can be used on wood for both indoors and outdoors applications. “EFI Cubik now lets us offer versatile printing technologies for the wood industry,” says Estrelles to underline the point. The new technology was presented for the first time at Ligna in Hannover this year.
EFI already offers industrial printers and ink technologies, providing solutions for multiple materials and for a wide range of applications such as flooring, wall cladding, furniture, countertops, shower plates, facades, outdoor paving and roofing materials. “We benefit from an innovative market-leading portfolio and strong expertise in our industrial inkjet business, and are excited about expanding into the wood industry, which represents an important growth opportunity for EFI,” said José Luis Ramón Moreno, vice president and general manager, EFI Industrial Printing.
